PRUNING & SHAPING
When Pruning, it’s important to consider:
HOW MUCH OF THE TREE CAN BE EXTRACTED WITHOUT SENDING IT INTO SHOCK & HARMING ITS GROWTH
HOW MUCH OF THE TREE CAN BE REMOVED WITHOUT MAKING VIGOROUS REGROWTH (EPICORMIC GROWTH) THAT REDUCES THE TREE STRUCTURE AND CREATES SENSITIVITY TO BRANCHES SNAPPING OFF

DIFFERENT TYPES OF PRUNING
Canopy Thinning:
Helps create more light in the canopy of the tree through careful removal of branches. This is also used when a structural inspection discovers a possible limb failure and helps with tree health.
Deadwood:
Eliminates dead limbs back to the main limbs. It also prevents small dead branches from falling to the ground and lessens the risk of dropping tree limbs.
Side Pruning:
Used to remove branches or canopy overhanging buildings or interfering with vehicle access.
Under Pruning/or Canopy Lifting:
Clears dropping hanging limbs/branches that are interfering with vehicles, lawnmowers or people working under trees.
Selective Pruning:
Includes pruning a particular part of the tree that is intervening with a cable, building or another tree.
Formative Pruning: Is a process of training future tree growth.
